Kevin oversees all field operations, typically as many as 50 major construction projects at a time, involving more than 300 field staff in addition to subcontractors. All equipment is also under his purview. In addition to overseeing all jobs, he continues to serve as a project executive on some jobs, taking a more hands-on role.
He began his career at GH Phipps 27 years ago as an apprentice carpenter and worked his way steadily through the ranks until being named VP six years ago. He estimates there are at least 80 people on the field staff who have been with the company at least as long as he. He says there are many people at the company who, like him, have worked their way up to positions they never thought possible when they started.
"GH Phipps is still that way. A young person can start with us on a field crew today and have the same opportunity for growth and advancement that I have had. This is a special place. There is very little turnover. We treat people well here. We know each other. We support each other. We are family. It really is the people who make GH Phipps what it is. The people who work here have a pride of ownership; they have a commitment to quality that goes back generations. We all believe that the client comes first and it is that commitment that creates so much repeat business."
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys family time, golf, and shooting sporting clays.
